Lina Critchlow, Director of Animal Management, began
working and learning about reptiles and amphibians as a
young girl in Battle Creek under her parents’ care. Because
of her father’s passion with these animals, her family began
to get involved with collecting unwanted reptiles. As an adult
following in her father’s footsteps, Lina wanted to acquire as
much knowledge about these misunderstood creatures and
became a member of the The Michigan Society of
Herpetologists (MSH) and later the Association of Zoos and
Aquariums (AZA). Through AZA, Lina has attended
professional training and development programs on
Crocodilian Biology and Captive Management at the St.
Augustine Alligator Farm in Florida as well as Animal
Training Applications in Zoo and Aquarium Settings at
Disney’s Animal Kingdom in Orlando. Through the
University of Florida, She has also studied these creatures
in their natural habitat in Central America Island of Bocas
Del Toro, Panama during a NeoTropical Herpetology
conservation course.
